Siam Paragon stands on the historic grounds formerly occupied by the Siam Inter-Continental Hotel, which was a landmark of Bangkok's hospitality for decades. The hotel was demolished in 2002 to make way for a massive joint venture between Siam Piwat and the Mall Group. This ambitious project aimed to create a world-class shopping destination that would redefine the retail landscape of Thailand and position Bangkok as a premier global shopping hub. Since its grand opening on December 9, 2005, Siam Paragon has consistently lived up to its reputation as 'The Pride of Bangkok.' At the time of its completion, it was one of the largest shopping malls in Southeast Asia, costing approximately 15 billion baht to construct. The mall's architecture features a distinctive glass-and-steel facade that reflects the vibrant energy of the surrounding Pathum Wan district. Over the years, the landmark has transitioned from a mere shopping center into a comprehensive lifestyle destination. It has hosted countless international events, high-fashion launches, and cultural exhibitions. Today, it remains a cornerstone of the city's economy and a symbol of Thailand's modern urban development, housing not only luxury boutiques but also one of the largest aquariums in the region and a world-class performing arts venue.
