ArtScience Museum

Opened on February 17, 2011, the ArtScience Museum is a premier cultural institution located within the Marina Bay Sands integrated resort in Singapore. Designed by the renowned architect Moshe Safdie, the building is often referred to as 'The Welcoming Hand of Singapore' due to its unique lotus-inspired shape. This architectural marvel serves as a physical manifestation of the museum's mission to explore the intersection of art, science, technology, and culture, providing a space where these disciplines can converge and inspire new ideas. Since its inauguration, the museum has become a global landmark, hosting a diverse range of international exhibitions that push the boundaries of traditional museum experiences. The museum's program features a permanent exhibition titled 'Future World: Where Art Meets Science,' created in collaboration with the Japanese art collective teamLab, which offers an immersive, digital playground for visitors of all ages. Over the years, it has also hosted prestigious touring exhibitions from world-class organizations like the American Museum of Natural History, the Smithsonian Institute, and famous designers like Hermès. These exhibitions cover everything from the depths of the ocean to the outer reaches of space, consistently drawing millions of visitors from around the world. Sustainability and engineering innovation are at the heart of the structure's design. The ten 'fingers' of the museum house 21 gallery spaces, with the tallest reaching 60 meters high. The building features a unique rainwater harvesting system where water is funneled through the center of the roof, creating a 35-meter waterfall that drops into a reflecting pool below. This recycled water is then used for the building's restrooms and landscaping, reflecting Singapore's commitment to environmental stewardship while maintaining its status as a world-class architectural icon.
