Antelope Canyon

Antelope Canyon is a world-renowned slot canyon located on Navajo land in Arizona, USA. Formed over millions of years by the erosion of Navajo Sandstone through seasonal flash flooding and wind, its smooth, undulating walls create a unique geological wonder. To the Navajo (Diné) people, the canyon is a sacred site considered a 'Living Earth' and is referred to as 'Tsé bighánílíní,' which means 'the place where water runs through rock.' According to Navajo oral tradition, it was discovered by a young Navajo girl named Sue Tsosie while herding sheep in 1931. Since 1997, it has been accessible only through guided tours led by Navajo guides to ensure visitor safety and preserve its fragile environment.
